A. MOTION TO APPROVE month-to-month extensions of the County's eight state and three federal lobbying agreements at the existing compensation rates.

B. MOTION TO AUTHORIZE County Administrator to execute the month-to-month extensions of the County's eight state and three federal lobbying agreements at the existing compensation rates.

Why Action is Necessary
The Board must approve all agreements for lobbying services.
What Action Accomplishes
Extends all lobbying agreements on a month-to-month basis. Staff intends to bring a separate item to the Board relating to lobbying agreements after the midterm elections which take place on November 6, 2018.

Summary Explanation/Background
The Board currently has lobbying agreements with eight state firms and three federal firms. The agreements expire on September 30th, 2018. Staff intends to bring an item after the midterm elections to reassess the need for existing services.

The Board currently has agreements with the following state based firms: Adams St. Advocates/Ericks Consultants; Ronald L. Book; Anfield Consulting Group; Ballard Partners; Pittman Law Group; Southern Strategy Group; Tripp Scott; and PinPoint Results.

The Board currently has agreements with the following federal firms: Van Scoyoc and Associates (subcontract with Thorn Run Partners); Gephardt Government Affairs; and the Cormac Group.

Staff recommends extension of all agreements until the Board can subsequently act after the midterm elections.
