Directs the Office of the County Attorney to draft a Resolution amending the Administrative Code.

Currently, Section 12.290 of the Administrative Code provides that a full-time employee of a law enforcement agency shall serve as a member of the Animal Care Advisory Committee ("ACAC").

This language appears to be unduly restrictive and prevents certain well-qualified candidates from serving on the ACAC. For example, a former law enforcement officer with over 25 years of experience investigating animal cruelty crimes who is currently instructing various law enforcement agencies on investigating allegations of animal cruelty is unable to fill this appointment category merely because the individual is no longer a full-time employee of a law enforcement agency.

The code provision should be amended to permit appointment of either a full-time employee of a law enforcement agency or a former employee of a law enforcement agency who has significant experience in investigating animal cruelty or other animal related crimes. An individual fitting either criterion would provide valuable insight and experience to ACAC.
