Broward County Commission Regular Meeting

A.  MOTION TO APPROVE Help America Vote Act (HAVA) grant award and authorize the County Administrator to execute all administrative and budgetary actions necessary to implement the grant. 

ACTION:  (T-1:46 PM)  Approved.
 
VOTE: 9-0.

B. MOTION TO ADOPT budget Resolution No. 2018-381 within the HAVA Grant Match Fund, for the Supervisor of Elections (SOE), to appropriate revenue in the amount of $27,494 for the County's grant match.

ACTION:  (T-1:46 PM)  Approved.
 
VOTE: 9-0.

A. Grant requires County approval of 15% match commitment of the State grant funds and certification of availability of elections equipment.

B. Appropriating revenues and expenditures increasing the bottom line of a fund requires approval by the Board of County Commissioners.

A. Obtains County Commission approval for County match commitment and certification required to accept the grant from the State.  

B. Appropriates revenue within the HAVA Grant Match Fund to fulfill the County's grant match obligation.

None.

The Supervisor of Elections has received $183,288 from the HAVA grant and the County is expected to provide $27,493 in grant match. The grant match will be appropriated during Fiscal Year 2018. The funds will be used to offset costs for mailing sample ballots, voter information cards, advertising and publications, voter system demonstrations and voter guides.
