MOTION TO PERMIT placement of League of Women Voters of Broward County, FL (the "League"), pamphlets in certain Broward County facilities which advocate the use of gun locks; allowing County staff to provide pamphlets to members of the public, upon their request; and approving the placement of a message on the pamphlets stating the County's support for the League's "Lock it Up!" gun safety campaign. Formal County support for this gun safety campaign, a small expenditure for printing pamphlets, and placement of the pamphlets requires Board approval.

Provides County support for this gun safety campaign.

The League of Women Voters of Broward County, FL, wishes to place gun safety pamphlets in certain County facilities. Approval of this item would allow that to occur. The approval may be rescinded by the County at any time. A copy of the pamphlet and a picture of the gun lock are attached hereto.

The League is agreeable to the County placing on the pamphlet a statement of County support for this gun safety campaign. That statement would be in substantially the following form: "Broward County supports the League's "Lock it Up!" gun safety campaign." The County logo would be shown next to this statement.

Approval of this item does not amount to enactment of any rule or regulation. It would not create any mandate in connection with firearms. It would merely make available to members of the public pamphlets regarding the “Lock it Up!” program.
