On June 5, 2018, the County Commission approved the implementation of the Sunset Review Recommendations for the Animal Care Advisory Committee (ACAC). As part of the recommendations, the ACAC was reduced from 18 to 11 by removing the nine district appointments and adding two at-large appointments with no specific category. Each County Commissioner retained one appointment within a specific category. The Intergovernmental Affairs/Boards Section reached out to the two members who served under the "in district" category prior to the implementation of the Sunset Review Recommendations to see if they would like to continue serving under the at-large appointments. Staff has been informed that the two individuals listed on the Animal Care Advisory Committee on Exhibit 1, have all expressed interest in continuing to serve and be reappointed.
This agenda item deviates from the regular at-large nomination process due to the elimination of the in-district appointments from the ACAC under the Sunset Review process. Once the terms of these appointments expire, the appointments will reopen as at-large appointments.
