Broward County Commission Regular Meeting

MOTION TO DIRECT Office of the County Attorney to draft an amendment to Chapter 39, of the Broward County Code of Ordinances ("Ordinance"), to address illegal trash and waste disposal in the Broward Municipal Services District; and to make minor updates to the Ordinance for clarification.

ACTION:  (T-10:33 AM)  Approved.
 
VOTE: 9-0.

Pursuant to Section 18.5(e) of the Broward County Administrative Code, the subject matter of a proposed Ordinance must be considered by the Board prior to the drafting of the proposed Ordinance.

Provides required direction to the Office of the County Attorney.

Section 39-275 (6) of the Code of Ordinances (Zoning Code) regulates the placement of trash cans, bulk trash, and yard waste for collection in the BMSD. Staff recommends amending the Code to provide enhanced tools for enforcement to address illegal dumping in BMSD neighborhoods. Staff will seek input on any proposed amendments from BMSD communities, including the Central County Community Advisory Board and the Broadview Park Civic Association.
