MOTION TO ENACT Ordinance amending the Broward County Comprehensive Plan to adopt Broward County Land Use Plan map amendment PC 18-4, in the City of Plantation (Commission District 5), the substance of which is as follows:

AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, ADOPTING AN AMENDMENT TO THE BROWARD COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN; AMENDING THE BROWARD COUNTY LAND USE PLAN WITHIN THE CITY OF PLANTATION; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

ACTION:  (T-11:35 AM)  Filed proof of publication and enacted the Ordinance to become effective as provided by law.  (Refer to minutes for full discussion.)
 
VOTE: 8-0.  Commissioner Udine abstained from voting, and was out of the room during the vote.
Why Action is Necessary
Pursuant to Section 163.3184, Florida Statutes, as amended, Broward County Comprehensive Plan amendments shall be adopted by Ordinance by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners, serving as the local governing body.
What Action Accomplishes
The Ordinance adopts Broward County Land Use Plan map amendment PC 18-4 in accordance with Section 163.3184, Florida Statutes, as amended.

Summary Explanation/Background
The Planning Council, as the Local Planning Agency (LPA) responsible for the Broward County Land Use Plan, considered the following proposed amendment, PC 18-4, at its January 25, 2018, public hearing and recommended approval, recognizing the data and analysis submitted by the City of Plantation regarding affordable housing Policy 2.16.2, inclusive of the applicant’s voluntary contribution of $250 per dwelling unit towards the County’s affordable housing programs (Vote of the Planning Council; Unanimous: 15-0; Blackwelder, Blattner, Breslau, Brunson, Castillo, DiGiorgio, Ganz, Gomez, Good, Graham, Rosenof, Rosenzweig, Udine, Williams and Stermer) and also recommended approval, recognizing the data and analysis submitted by the City of Plantation regarding affordable housing Policy 2.16.2, inclusive of the applicant’s voluntary contribution of $250 per dwelling unit towards the County’s affordable housing programs, at its May 24, 2018, public hearing (Vote of the Planning Council; Unanimous: 14-0; Blackwelder, Blattner, Breslau, Castillo, DiGiorgio, Ganz, Gomez, Graham, Grosso, Moraitis, Rosenof, Rosenzweig, Williams and Stermer):

AMENDMENT PC 18-4
Amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan - City of Plantation

From Commerce to a Dashed-Line Area consisting of 5.0 acres of Commerce and 23.7 acres of Irregular (21) Residential.

Approximately 28.7 acres; generally located on the south side of Cleary Boulevard, between Pine Island Road and American Express Way.
