MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution No. 2018-338 directing the County Administrator to publish Notice of a Public Hearing to be held on September 13, 2018, at 10:00 a.m., to consider enactment of an Ordinance adopting a proposed amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan map (PC 18-7), in the City of Deerfield Beach (Commission District 2), as an amendment to the Broward County Comprehensive Plan, the substance of which is as follows:

AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, ADOPTING AN AMENDMENT TO THE BROWARD COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN; AMENDING THE BROWARD COUNTY LAND USE PLAN WITHIN THE CITY OF DEERFIELD BEACH; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

ACTION:  (T-10:33 AM)  Approved.
 
VOTE: 9-0.
Why Action is Necessary
It is necessary to schedule a Public Hearing of the Broward County Board of County Commissioners to be held subsequent to receipt of a recommendation from the Broward County Planning Council prior to adoption of an amendment to the Broward County Comprehensive Plan.
What Action Accomplishes
The Resolution directs the County Administrator to set a Public Hearing for September 13, 2018, to consider adoption of proposed Broward County Land Use Plan map amendment PC 18-7, which is an amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan.

Summary Explanation/Background
The Planning Council, as the Local Planning Agency (LPA) responsible for the Broward County Land Use Plan, considered the following proposed amendment, PC 18-7, at its March 22, 2018, public hearing and recommended approval subject to the City of Deerfield Beach's commitment to submit a corrective amendment to the BCLUP for the remaining Century Village Dashed-Line Area within one (1) year of final action on this amendment (Vote of the Planning Council; 13-2; Yes: Breslau, Brunson, Castillo, DiGiorgio, Ganz, Gomez, Grosso, Moraitis, Rosenof, Rosenzweig, Udine, Williams and Stermer. No: Blackwelder and Graham) and also recommended approval subject to the City of Deerfield Beach's commitment to submit a corrective amendment to the BCLUP for the remaining Century Village Dashed-Line Area within one (1) year of final action on this amendment at its June 28, 2018, public hearing (Vote of the Planning Council; 11-2; Yes: Blattner, Breslau, Brunson, DiGiorgio, Ganz, Gomez, Good, Grosso, Rich, Williams and Stermer. No: Blackwelder and Graham).

AMENDMENT PC 18-7
Amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan - City of Deerfield Beach


From Commercial Recreation within a Dashed-Line  Area to 25.1 acres of Low-Medium (10) Residential and to 57.9 acres of Recreation and Open Space within a Dashed-Line Area.

Approximately 83.0 acres; generally located on the west side of Military Trail, between Hillsboro Boulevard and Southwest 10 Street.

Further, if the County Commission sets the Public Hearing, the full amendment report and associated attachments will be included as exhibits to the public hearing item.
