In its December 2016 Phase II report, Fitch and Associates (Fitch) recommended the sunset of the Broward County Consolidated Communications Committee (BCCCC) and the reconstitution of the Law/Fire Operational Review Teams (ORTs) to be led by Fire and Police field personnel. As part of this process, Fitch recommended the implementation of an engagement process that allows for decisions to be vetted by the stakeholders and voted on by agencies.
Based on feedback from the end users, on February 7, 2017, the Board of County Commissioners extended the BCCCC for one-year to allow for the end users to establish the ORTs.
At the February 2, 2018 BCCCC meeting, committee members were informed by a representative of the ORTs that the Law/Fire ORTs have not established their structure and that additional time was required. As a result, the BCCCC approved a motion to request that the County Commission extend the BCCCC for an additional six months until July 6, 2018, to allow for the establishment of the ORTs.
At the June 11, 2018 BCCCC meeting, committee members were informed by a representative of the ORTs that additional time was necessary to fully stand up the ORTs. The BCCCC voted in favor of a motion to request that the County Commission extend the BCCCC until September 30, 2018. |
