B. MOTION TO APPROVE appointment of Vice-Mayor Ben Sorensen to the Homeless Continuum of Care Board.

VOTE: 7-0.  Commissioners LaMarca and Ryan were not present.

Summary Explanation/Background
THE INTERGOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS/BOARDS SECTION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THIS ITEM.

MOTION A:
The Children's Services Board (CSB) is comprised of 20 members appointed by the Broward County Commission. The Broward Behavioral Health Coalition (BBHC) is one of the six organizations that nominate a member to be appointed by the County Commission. Due to the changes in board composition made during Sunset Review, The Chief Executive Officer of the BBHC or another member of senior management serves on the CSB. The BBHC has nominated Norma Wagner to serve on the CSB. The County Attorney's Office has determined that Ms. Wagner qualifies to serve on the CSB (see Exhibit 1).

MOTION B:
The Homeless Continuum of Care Board (HCOC) is composed of 29 voting/nonvoting members, including 20 members who are nominated by specific entities for approval by the Board of County Commissioners. One voting member category provides for an
elected official from the City of Fort Lauderdale to serve on the HCOC.

The following nomination has been received by the Human Services Department (HSD) for appointment to the HCOC pursuant to Section 12.153(a)4, Broward County Administrative Code:

Vice-Mayor Ben Sorensen nominated as the City of Fort Lauderdale elected official from a municipality that is designated as U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Funds. The County Attorney has determined that Vice Mayor Sorensen qualifies for appointment (see Exhibit 2).
