Summary Explanation/Background
The Annual Conference of the National Association of Counties' (NACo) will take place July 13-16, 2018, in Davidson County, Tennessee. Broward County has approximately 70 votes which may be cast during NACo leadership elections during the annual business meeting.

To exercise these votes, Broward County must submit a completed voting credentials form to NACo. The voting delegate (or alternate) must be a paid registrant to the conference. Commissioner Sharief and Commissioner LaMarca are registered to attend the annual conference. Designation of a voting delegate (or the alternate in the voting delegate’s absence) allows the person to pick up the County's ballot and to cast all eligible votes in NACo elections or on the platform changes and policy Resolutions, consistent with the County's Federal Legislative platform, presented to the general membership at the annual business meeting.

Traditionally, Florida votes as a unit and the Florida Association of Counties holds a caucus meeting at the conference for all attending county delegates to discuss support of candidates. The County has previously passed a Resolution in favor of Commissioner Barbara Sharief's candidacy for Second Vice-President.

The 2018 NACo voting credentials packet is attached as Exhibit 1.
