MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution No. 2018-283 directing the County Administrator to publish Notice of a Public Hearing to be held on August 14, 2018, at 10:00 a.m., to consider enactment of an Ordinance adopting a proposed amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan map (PC 18-4), in the City of Plantation (Commission District 5), as an amendment to the Broward County Comprehensive Plan, the substance of which is as follows:

AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, ADOPTING AN AMENDMENT TO THE BROWARD COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN; AMENDING THE BROWARD COUNTY LAND USE PLAN WITHIN THE CITY OF PLANTATION; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

VOTE: 6-0.  Commissioner Udine abstained from voting on this item.  Commissioners LaMarca and Ryan were not present.
Why Action is Necessary
It is necessary to schedule a Public Hearing of the Broward County Board of County Commissioners to be held subsequent to receipt of a recommendation from the Broward County Planning Council prior to adoption of an amendment to the Broward County Comprehensive Plan.
What Action Accomplishes
The Resolution directs the County Administrator to set a Public Hearing for August 14, 2018, to consider adoption of proposed Broward County Land Use Plan map amendment PC 18-4, which is an amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan.

Summary Explanation/Background
The Planning Council, as the Local Planning Agency (LPA) responsible for the Broward County Land Use Plan, considered the following proposed amendment, PC 18-4, at its January 25, 2018, public hearing and recommended approval recognizing the data and analysis submitted by the City of Plantation regarding affordable housing inclusive of and subject to the applicant's voluntary contribution of $250 per dwelling unit towards the County's affordable housing programs (Vote of the Planning Council; Unanimous: 15-0; Blackwelder, Blattner, Breslau, Brunson, Castillo, DiGiorgio, Ganz, Gomez, Good, Graham, Rosenof, Rosenzweig, Udine, Williams and Stermer)  and also recommended approval recognizing the data and analysis submitted by the City of Plantation regarding affordable housing inclusive of and subject to the applicant's voluntary contribution of $250 per dwelling unit towards the County's affordable housing programs at its May 24, 2018, public hearing (Vote of the Planning Council; Unanimous: 14-0; Blackwelder, Blattner, Breslau, Castillo, DiGiorgio, Ganz, Gomez, Graham, Grosso, Moraitis, Rosenof, Rosenzweig, Williams and Stermer)

Amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan - City of Plantation


From Commerce to 5.0 acres of Commerce within a Dashed-Line Area and 23.7 acres of Irregular (21) Residential within a Dashed-Line Area

Approximately 28.7 acres; generally located on the south side of Cleary Boulevard, between Pine Island Road and American Express Way.
