THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/FACILITIES MANAGEMENT DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
On December 13, 2016 (Item No. 14), the Broward County Board of County Commissioners approved the revenue generating agreement between Broward County and CSS of South Florida Inc., Request for Proposals (RFP) No. R1350305P1, for Broward County Judicial Center - Food Services (Exhibit 1).
The initial three-year agreement provides for CSS of South Florida, Inc. to pay the County cumulative monthly fees of $87,000 in year one, $87,000 in year two and $88,200 in year three, for a total three-year amount of $262,200 with two one-year optional renewals. The agreement allows CSS of South Florida Inc. to provide meal and snack services to employees and the general public at the Broward County Judicial Center.
On April 23, 2018, the Purchasing Director approved the first amendment to the agreement, modifying the initial term from three years to five years, and also for the addition of another Cafe location within the Broward County Judicial Center (Exhibit 2).
On May 1, 2018, County staff received a letter from CSS of South Florida Inc. requesting to “terminate for convenience” their agreement with Broward County (Exhibit 3). CSS of South Florida Inc. expressed a hardship due to changing pedestrian traffic and other operating conditions at the courthouse that are placing a burden on the business. A response to CSS of South Florida Inc. was provided in a letter (Exhibit 4) dated May 17, 2018. As CSS of South Florida Inc. has already exited the premises, County staff recommends approval of the Motion to Terminate for convenience the agreement between Broward County and CSS of South Florida Inc. |
