MOTION TO APPROVE Agreement between Broward County and the Town of Davie for trafficway beautification on Nova Drive from approximately 400 feet east of University Drive to Davie Road, at no cost to the County; and authorize Mayor and Clerk to execute same. (Commission District 7)

Board of County Commissioners’ approval is required for interlocal agreements.

Formalizes the responsibilities of the County and the Town of Davie regarding installation and maintenance of improvements on Nova Drive from approximately 400 feet east of University Drive to Davie Road.

PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION AND ENGINEERING DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL
 

Nova Drive from University Drive to Davie Road is a County Road in the Town of Davie. The Town desires to undertake a project to improve this road at no cost to the County. The project includes installation of landscaped and irrigated medians; bike lanes; right turn lanes; sidewalks; curb ramps; upgraded lighting and drainage; new pavement markings and signage; and a traffic roundabout approximately 300 feet west of SW 71st Terrace. The landscaping improvements shall incorporate a minimum 50% native species by plant types and shall follow the Broward County NatureScape program and Florida-Friendly Landscaping principles.

Approval of the agreement will allow the Town to undertake the improvements project. Upon project completion, the Town will be responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of the landscaping and irrigation improvements, including all utility costs.

The agreement has been reviewed and approved as to form by the Office of the County Attorney and the Risk Management Division.
