A. The Broward Sheriff's Office supports this LETF request for ballistic helmets. Ballistic helmets would be used to provide additional ballistic head protection for Broward Sheriff's Deputies tasked with performing law enforcement duties and other related functions in Broward County. Success of this program can be measured via the preservation of life of the Broward Sheriff's Deputies outfitted with the ballistic helmets.
B. The Broward Sheriff's Office supports this LETF request for Christmas in July Inc. Christmas in July is about meeting the needs of homeless children by providing personalized book bags with clothing, blankets, personal hygiene items, and back-to-school supplies to school age children within Broward County. In conjunction with the Broward County Board of County Commissioners, the School Board of Broward County, BSO, and other Police Departments, a one day event is held in which the children will receive a child identification card, fingerprinting, and K-9 demonstrations. These children are able to see the Police in a very positive light, which will help them feel safe around law enforcement, instill a feeling of well-being, build confidence and self-esteem, and help to prevent future criminal activity. |
