THE FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES DEPARTMENT AND THE RISK MANAGEMENT DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
On June 11, 2013 (Item No. 28), the Board approved Contract No. GEN2115794P1, between Broward County and USIS, Inc., d/b/a Amerisys, for Workers’ Compensation Medical Cost Containment and Case Management Services. The contract became effective, July 1, 2013 and had an initial 36-month period with two one-year renewals (Exhibit 4). The agreement provides for Professional Medical Cost Containment and Case Management Services designed to control and reduce overall medical costs of the County's Workers' Compensation program while assuring that injured employees receive prompt, high quality and efficient medical care. Furthermore, the contract is to provide all statutory Workers' Compensation benefits provided by State Law while mitigating costs to the greatest possible extent.
Prior to June 30, 2016, the County, through its Purchasing Director, exercised the first one-year renewal, extending the agreement through June 30, 2017 (Exhibit 3). Prior to June 30, 2017, the County, through its Purchasing Director, exercised the second and final one-year renewal, which is currently set to expire on June 30, 2018.
On April 24, 2018 (Item No. 51), the Board approved a Request for Proposal (RFP) No. GEN2115794P1 for Workers’ Compensation Medical Cost Containment and Case Management Services. Due to the nature of the services, an interim contract is needed to ensure continuity of State-required workers’ compensation services. Additionally, the extension will allow for a reasonable timeframe for Broward County to advertise, negotiate, award and to execute a replacement agreement with a vendor.
The current vendor, Amerisys, has agreed to extend the existing agreement on a month-to-month basis not to exceed a year based upon the same pricing, terms and conditions as set forth in the current agreement (Exhibit 2).
Estimated monthly expenditures are $8,750 per month. |
