Summary Explanation/Background
THE OFFICE OF MEDICAL EXAMINER AND TRAUMA SERVICES RECOMMENDS APPROVAL.

Chapter 3½ of the Broward County Code of Ordinances identifies the process to which every person, firm, corporation, or association must adhere to that provides or wishes to provide emergency medical services within Broward County, Florida.

The Trauma Management Agency, a subsection of the Office of Medical Examiner and Trauma Services, acts as the designee of the County Administrator for the purpose of reviewing and processing of applications for Certificates of Public Convenience and Necessity (COPCN), including Class 1 - ALS Rescue services. The application process and monitoring of certified agencies are further promulgated through the rules and regulations set forth in Chapter 3½ of the Broward County Code and Chapter 33, Part II, Medical Transportation Rules and Regulations, of the Broward County Administrative Code.

The Trauma Management Agency has received and reviewed the application from the Town of Hillsboro Beach for a renewal COPCN to provide Class 1 - ALS Rescue services within Broward County, Florida. The Trauma Management Agency has found the above applicant to be in compliance with all County rules and regulations relating to the provision of Class 1 - ALS Rescue services. The full application, including attachments, is maintained by the Trauma Management Agency. Retroactive approval is requested because the previous COPCN expired on October 31, 2017 and no renewal application was received prior to it's expiration. This COPCN will expire on November 1, 2022 consistent with Broward County Code of Ordinance, Chapter 3½-6(j).

Pursuant to Chapter 3½-15(b), Broward County Code, the Trauma Management Agency has received no complaints concerning the actions of the applicant, and presents this application to the Board for its consideration.
