MOTION TO APPROVE use of Broward County staff and resources in connection with the 2018 Mayors’ Gala for the benefit of the United Way of Broward County. (Mayor Furr)

Under the County’s Code of Ethics for Elected Officials, County staff and resources may be used in connection with charitable events, including with regard to the solicitation of charitable contributions, if the Board formally approves the applicable charity or fundraising event.

Permits County staff and resources to be used in connection with the event’s charitable fundraising activities.

The purpose of the 2018 Mayors’ Gala is to raise funds for the United Way of Broward County, a nonprofit charitable organization. The Gala will be held at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Broward County Convention Center on October 13, 2018. Approval of this item would allow for the use of County staff and resources for charitable fundraising purposes in connection with the event.
