Summary Explanation/Background
THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND GROWTH MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT AND THE ENVIRONMENTAL AND CONSUMER PROTECTION DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

This item supports the Board's Value of "Consistently delivering responsive, efficient, quality services to the public and internal customers" and Goal 4: Build into every process and service effective checks and balances that do not cause inefficiency, but rather ensure consistency, continuity, and quality.

Approval of this item allows the County Attorney's Office to draft a proposed Ordinance to revise Chapter 20 of the Broward County Code of Ordinances and a Resolution to revise Chapter 40 in the Administrative Code to more efficiently redistribute Consumer Regulatory licensing renewal deadlines.

Currently, several Consumer Regulatory programs have licensing renewal due dates such that requests for licensing renewals peak at approximately 5,700, 4,600, and 1,800 during the months of June, September, and December, respectively. These peaks in customer demand result in longer wait times for customers at Government Center West and longer turn around times for licensing renewal submittals during these three months. While yearly licensing requirements will remain, specific regulatory due dates will be removed. Then, new licensing renewal due dates will be implemented to more evenly distribute license renewal due dates throughout the year, improving customer service.
