Requested Action
MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution No. 2018-046 directing the County Administrator to publish Notice of a Public Hearing to be held on March 20, 2018, at 10:00 a.m., to consider enactment of an Ordinance adopting a proposed amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan map (PC 18-2), in the City of Miramar (Commission District 8), as an amendment to the Broward County Comprehensive Plan, the substance of which is as follows:

AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, ADOPTING AN AMENDMENT TO THE BROWARD COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN; AMENDING THE BROWARD COUNTY LAND USE PLAN WITHIN THE CITY OF MIRAMAR; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

ACTION:  (T-10:50 AM)  Approved.
 
VOTE: 7-0.  Commissioner Holness appeared telephonically and voted in the affirmative.  Commissioners Geller and LaMarca appeared telephonically but were inaudible during the vote.
Why Action is Necessary
It is necessary to schedule a Public Hearing of the Broward County Board of County Commissioners to be held subsequent to receipt of a recommendation from the Broward County Planning Council prior to adoption of an amendment to the Broward County Comprehensive Plan.
What Action Accomplishes
The Resolution directs the County Administrator to set a Public Hearing for March 20, 2018, to consider adoption of proposed Broward County Land Use Plan map amendment PC 18-2, which is an amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan.

Summary Explanation/Background
The Planning Council, as the Local Planning Agency (LPA) responsible for the Broward County Land Use Plan, considered the following proposed amendment, PC 18-2, at its October 26, 2017, public hearing and recommended approval, subject to the applicant’s voluntary contribution of $500 per additional dwelling unit for affordable housing (Vote of the Planning Council: 11-4; Yes: Blattner, Brunson, Castillo, DiGiorgio, Ganz, Gomez, Rosenof, Rosenzweig, Udine, Williams and Stermer. No: Blackwelder, Good, Graham and Grosso.) and also recommended approval at its January 25, 2018, public hearing, subject to the applicant’s voluntary contribution of $500 per additional dwelling unit for affordable housing and to the applicant's voluntary commitment regarding transportation improvements (Vote of the Planning Council: 12-3; Yes: Blattner, Breslau, Brunson, Castillo, DiGiorgio, Ganz, Gomez, Rosenof, Rosenzweig, Udine, Williams and Stermer. No: Blackwelder, Good and Graham.):

Approximately 120.0 acres; generally located on the southwest corner of Southwest 172 Avenue and Bass Creek Road.
