MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution No. 2018-047 directing the County Administrator to publish Notice of Public Hearing to be held on March 20, 2018, at 10:00 a.m., to consider transmittal to designated State review agencies of a proposed amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan map (PC 18-4) in the City of Plantation, as an amendment to the Broward County Comprehensive Plan. (Commission District 5)

VOTE: 5-0.  Commissioner Geller voted in the affirmative telephonically.  Commissioners Holness, LaMarca, and Sharief were not present during the vote.  Commissioner Udine abstained from voting.
Why Action is Necessary
It is necessary to schedule a public hearing of the Broward County Board of County Commissioners prior to transmittal of an amendment to the Broward County Comprehensive Plan.
What Action Accomplishes
The Resolution directs the County Administrator to set a public hearing for March 20, 2018, to consider transmittal of proposed map amendment PC 18-4, which is an amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan, to designated State review agencies pursuant to Section 163.3184, Florida Statutes, as amended.

Summary Explanation/Background
The Planning Council, as the Local Planning Agency (LPA) responsible for the Broward County Land Use Plan, considered the following proposed map amendment, PC 18-4, at its January 25, 2018, public hearing and recommended approval, subject the applicant's voluntary commitment to pay $250 per dwelling unit towards the County's affordable housing programs (Vote of the Planning Council; Unanimous: 15-0; Blackwelder, Blattner, Breslau, Brunson, Castillo, DiGiorgio, Ganz, Gomez, Good, Graham, Rosenof, Rosenzweig, Udine, Williams and Stermer):

AMENDMENT PC 18-4
Amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan - City of Plantation

From Commerce to a Dashed-Line Area consisting of 5.0 acres of Commerce and 23.7 acres of Irregular (21) Residential

Approximately 28.7 acres; generally located on the south side of Cleary Boulevard, between Pine Island Road and American Express Way.

Further, if the County Commission sets the public hearing, the full amendment report and associated attachments will be included as an exhibit to the public hearing item.
