Summary Explanation/Background
THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND GROWTH MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT AND THE ANIMAL CARE AND ADOPTION DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

This item furthers the Division's goal to: promote responsible pet ownership, animal care, and community safety; increase adoptions and awareness of Division services; develop and implement life-saving programs that will increase positive outcomes for shelter animals; and reduce pet over-population.

The Animal Care and Adoption Division has received nonconsumable supplies from PetSmart Charities, Inc., of Phoenix, Arizona, valued at $90,297.65. These supplies were utilized during emergency relief efforts of the Animal Care and Adoption Division after Hurricane Irma.

Based on a Grant Agreement that was approved by the Board of County Commissioners on February 14, 2012, acceptance of the nonconsumable supplies requires execution of a Grant Statement, which is attached as Exhibit 1. The Grant Statement has been provided legal review and approval as to form by the County Attorney's Office.
