MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution, No. 2018-085 the title of which is as follows: (Commissioner Udine)

A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, URGING THE UNITED STATES SENATE TO PASS THE STOP SCHOOL VIOLENCE ACT OF 2018; DIRECTING THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO ALL MEMBERS OF CONGRESS REPRESENTING BROWARD COUNTY RESIDENTS; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Summary Explanation/Background
On March 14, 2018, the United States House of Representatives passed the Student, Teachers, and Officers Preventing School Violence Act of 2018 (the "STOP School Violence Act of 2018"), which appropriates funds for training and infrastructure improvements to deter and respond to threats of violence.

Through this Resolution, the Board urges the U.S. Senate to pass the STOP School Violence Act of 2018, and directs the County Administrator to send a copy of this Resolution to all members of Congress representing Broward County residents.
