MOTION TO AUTHORIZE County Administrator, or designee, to execute all necessary documents approved by the Office of the County Attorney to effectuate the request to change the job creation schedule for Project Polk, a project previously recommended for approval by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners (Board) on February 14, 2017 (Item No. 36) as a qualified applicant for participation in the State of Florida Qualified Targeted Industry Tax Refund Program (“QTI”) and the QTI High Impact Sector Bonus Tax Refund Program. (Commission District 8)

ACTION:  (T-11:01 AM)  Approved.

VOTE:  9-0.

Board approval of economic business development incentive requests and County participation in economic business development incentive programs is required pursuant to Broward County Administrative Code, Section 19.37.1. Board approval is required to authorize the County Administrator, or designee, to execute any request for change to previously approved economic development incentives.

This action responds to the State of Florida's recent request for approval of a change to the job creation schedule (with no change to the amount of monetary local financial support) for Project Polk, a project previously recommended for approval by the Board on February 14, 2017 (Item No. 36) as a QTI and QTI High Impact Sector Bonus applicant, and authorizes the County Administrator, or designee, to execute all the necessary documents approved by the Office of the County Attorney to effectuate the requested change to the job creation schedule for Project Polk.

Project Polk was recommended for approval by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners (Board) on February 14, 2017 (Item No. 36) as a qualified applicant for participation in the State of Florida Qualified Targeted Industry Tax Refund Program (“QTI”) and the QTI High Impact Sector Bonus Tax Refund Program.

THE OFFICE OF ECONOMIC AND SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

In the course of finalizing the economic business development incentive agreement with respect to Project Polk, a project previously recommended by the Board on February 14, 2017 as a QTI and QTI High Impact Sector Bonus applicant, there is a request by the State of Florida Department of Economic Opportunity to change the job creation schedule previously approved for Project Polk. In an effort to streamline the approval process with respect to Project Polk, the Office of Economic and Small Business Development requests that the Board authorize the County Administrator, or designee, to execute all necessary documents approved by the Office of the County Attorney to effectuate the requested change to the job creation schedule (with no change to the amount of monetary local financial support) of Project Polk.
