MOTION TO ENACT Ordinance amending the Broward County Comprehensive Plan to adopt Broward County Land Use Plan map amendment PC 18-2, in the City of Miramar (Commission District 8), the substance of which is as follows:

AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, ADOPTING AN AMENDMENT TO THE BROWARD COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN; AMENDING THE BROWARD COUNTY LAND USE PLAN WITHIN THE CITY OF MIRAMAR; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

ACTION:  (T-11:15 AM)  Filed proof of publication and enacted the Ordinance to become effective as provided by law.  (See Purple-Sheeted Additional Material, dated March 20, 2018, submitted at the request of the Planning Council.)

VOTE:  7-1.  Commissioner Udine abstained from voting, and was out of the room during the vote.  Mayor Furr voted no.
Why Action is Necessary
Pursuant to Section 163.3184, Florida Statutes, as amended, Broward County Comprehensive Plan amendments shall be adopted by Ordinance by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners, serving as the local governing body.
What Action Accomplishes
The Ordinance adopts Broward County Land Use Plan map amendment PC 18-2 in accordance with Section 163.3184, Florida Statutes, as amended.

Summary Explanation/Background
The Planning Council, as the Local Planning Agency (LPA) responsible for the Broward County Land Use Plan, considered the following proposed amendment, PC 18-2, at its October 26, 2017, public hearing and recommended approval, subject to the applicant’s voluntary contribution of $500 per additional dwelling unit for affordable housing, transportation improvements and meeting with School board safety staff regarding the intersection of Southwest 172 Avenue and Bass Creek Road (Vote of the Planning Council: 11-4; Yes: Blattner, Brunson, Castillo, DiGiorgio, Ganz, Gomez, Rosenof, Rosenzweig, Udine, Williams and Stermer. No: Blackwelder, Good, Graham and Grosso.) and also recommended approval at its January 25, 2018, public hearing, subject to the applicant’s voluntary contribution of $500 per additional dwelling unit for affordable housing and transportation improvements (Vote of the Planning Council: 12-3; Yes: Blattner, Breslau, Brunson, Castillo, DiGiorgio, Ganz, Gomez, Rosenof, Rosenzweig, Udine, Williams and Stermer. No: Blackwelder, Good and Graham.):

Amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan - City of Miramar

From Agricultural to Irregular (3.21) Residential
Approximately 120.0 acres; generally located on the southwest corner of Southwest 172 Avenue and Bass Creek Road.
