MOTION TO CONSIDER award of a Class 2 - ALS (Advanced Life Support) Transfer Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (COPCN) to the Town of Davie Fire Rescue, City of Margate Fire Rescue, City of Plantation Fire Department, and City of Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue Department.

Why Action is Necessary
Pursuant to Chapter 3½-6(f), Broward County Code, a Public Hearing must be held to consider the award or denial of a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity.
What Action Accomplishes
Provides the Board with an opportunity to receive public comments concerning applicants seeking to provide Class 2 - ALS Transfer services within Broward County.

Summary Explanation/Background

THE OFFICE OF MEDICAL EXAMINER AND TRAUMA SERVICES RECOMMENDS APPROVAL.

Chapter 3½ of the Broward County Code of Ordinances identifies the process to which every person, firm, corporation, or association must adhere that provides or wishes to provide emergency medical services within Broward County, Florida.

The Trauma Management Agency, a subsection of the Office of Medical Examiner and Trauma Services, acts as the designee of the County Administrator for the purpose of reviewing and processing of applications for Certificates of Public Convenience and Necessity (COPCN), including Class 2 - ALS Transfer services. The application process and monitoring of certified agencies are further promulgated through the rules and regulations set forth in Chapter 3½ of the Broward County Code and Chapter 33, Part II, Medical Transportation Rules and Regulations, of the Broward County Administrative Code.

The Trauma Management Agency has received and reviewed the applications from the Town of Davie Fire Rescue, City of Margate Fire Rescue, City of Plantation Fire Department and City of Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue Department for a renewal COPCN to provide Class 2 - ALS Transfer services within Broward County, Florida. The Trauma Management Agency has found the above applicants to be in compliance with all County rules and regulations relating to the provision of Class 2 - ALS Transfer services. The full applications, including exhibits, are maintained by the Trauma Management Agency.

Pursuant to Chapter 3½-15(b), Broward County Code, the Trauma Management Agency has received no complaints concerning the actions of the applicants, and presents these applications to the Board for its consideration.
