MOTION TO NOTE FOR THE RECORD sole source and sole brand contracts to the awarded vendors per Exhibit 1, for various County agencies, and authorize the Director of Purchasing to renew the contracts for up to five one-year periods subject to availability of funds and determination that the renewal of each contract is in the best interest of the County.

ACTION:  (T-11:01 AM)  Approved.

VOTE:  9-0.

In accordance with the Broward County Procurement Code, Section 21.31.g., a contract for supplies or services may be entered into for no more than five years without the express consent of the Board.

Provides for continuation of the contracts for maintenance, service, upgrades and support of equipment, hardware and software for various County agencies.

THE PURCHASING DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

On April 12, 2011 (Item 45), the Board discussed and directed staff to review all long term sole source/sole brand procurements and bring back information as it relates to sole sourcing, not limited to furniture, office supplies, technology, and others areas.

To ensure that the intent of the Procurement Code, Section 21.31.g., is properly documented and fully disclosed, all sole source and sole brand products and services, purchased or anticipated to be purchased for a period in excess of five years, will be noted to the Board. Additionally, it is the intent of the Purchasing Division to bring all contracts that exceed five years with the same supplier or for the same brand products to the attention of the Board.
