MOTION TO CONSIDER adoption of a Resolution 2018-014 Amending the Administrative Code, the title of which is as follows:

A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, PERTAINING TO DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLANS; AMENDING SECTION 22.106 OF THE BROWARD COUNTY ADMINISTRATIVE CODE ("ADMINISTRATIVE CODE") TO ALLOW MEMBERS OF THE COUNTY ATTORNEY'S SENIOR MANAGEMENT TEAM AND THE DEPUTY COUNTY AUDITOR TO RECEIVE A DEFERRED COMPENSATION MATCH; AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR TO TAKE ANY ADMINISTRATIVE AND BUDGETARY ACTIONS AND EXECUTE ANY AGREEMENTS REQUIRED TO IMPLEMENT THIS RESOLUTION; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, INCLUSION IN THE ADMINISTRATIVE CODE, AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

VOTE:  8-0.  Commissioner Geller was not present.
Why Action is Necessary
A Resolution directing the County Administrator to publish notice of public hearing to consider adoption of the Resolution Amending the Administrative Code was adopted by the Board of County Commissioners at its meeting of December 12, 2017.
What Action Accomplishes
Authorizes the provision of a deferred compensation match to members of the County Attorney's Senior Management Team and the Deputy County Auditor.

Summary Explanation/Background
If approved, this item would allow the County Attorney and County Auditor to provide to critical employees of their respective Offices the same deferred compensation match (i.e., up to 4% of gross salary) currently available to members of the County Administrator's Executive Team. The match would be available to (1) the County Attorney's Senior Management Team, comprised of five or fewer attorneys with the title of "Deputy County Attorney" and (2) the Deputy County Auditor. The County Auditor has asked that the agenda item reflect his support for adoption of the resolution.

Fiscal Impact/Cost Summary:
The estimated cost of this employee benefit, if implemented, would be paid from the existing budgets of the two Offices. The maximum current annual cost to the Office of the County Attorney is $34,460. The maximum current annual cost to the Office of the County Auditor is $6,425.
