THE TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT/TRANSIT DIVISION AND THE OFFICE OF MANAGEMENT AND BUDGET RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTIONS.
On November 1, 2016, Item No. 4, the Board terminated for cause the open end contracts between Broward County and VIMAC USA, Inc., for replacement of existing bus stop signs countywide, Bid No. V1316220B1 and for construction of cast-in-place transit shelters and amenities in the city of Lauderdale Lakes, Bid No. V1311511B1 and authorized the Contract Administrator and the Office of the County Attorney to take all necessary administrative and legal action, including but not limited to pursuing the Performance and Payment Guaranty.
On March 28, 2017, Item No. 14, the Board approved a Tender Agreement and General Release between Broward County and Developers Surety and Indemnity Company, for completion of the installation of bus stop signs by AUM Construction, Inc., under the Bus Stop Replacement Project (Contract V1316220B1). Under the terms of that financial settlement agreement (Exhibit 1) the Surety provided a payment to the County in the amount of $69,501, this action recognizes the placement of those funds into the appropriate Federal Transit Administration capital grant fund.
During the Board's summer recess, on July 22, 2017, the County Administrator approved a Tender Agreement and General Release between Broward County and Developers Surety and Indemnity Company, for completion of five bus shelters in the City of Lauderdale Lakes by C & I Construction & Design, Inc., under the Cast-in-Place Transit Shelters and Amenities - City of Lauderdale Lakes project (Contract V1311511B1). Under the terms of that financial settlement agreement (Exhibit 2) the Surety provided a payment to the County in the amount of $73,262, this action recognizes the placement of those funds into the appropriate Federal Transit Administration capital grant fund. |
