Summary Explanation/Background
District 2 wishes to use its staff to solicit contributions and donations of toys from several organizations throughout the County. Any donated toys will be delivered to one or more charitable organizations for distribution to disadvantaged children.

Section 1-19(c)(5) of the Broward County Code of Ordinances provides that an elected official may not use County resources or staff to solicit charitable contributions absent approval by the Board of County Commissioners. Therefore, because District 2 would be using County staff and resources for a charitable purpose, Board approval is required.
