MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution No. 2017-552 of the Board of County Commissioners of Broward County, Florida, accepting a donation of four dog waste stations from the Friends of TY Park, Inc., valued at $500 or more, for the use and benefit of the Parks and Recreation Division at Topeekeegee Yugnee (TY) Park; authorizing the County Administrator to take all administrative and budgetary actions required to implement acceptance; and providing for severability and an effective date. (Commission District 6)

VOTE: 9-0.  Commissioner Geller voted in the affirmative telephonically.

Section 18.63 of Broward County Administrative Code requires any donation valued at $500 or more to be accepted by Board Resolution.

Authorizes acceptance of the donation of four dog waste stations for the use and benefit of the Parks and Recreation Division at Topeekeegee Yugnee (TY) Park.

PARKS AND RECREATION DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

This item supports the Broward County Board of County Commissioners' value of cultivating community culture, arts, recreation and life-long learning, and the associated goal to deliver world class recreational opportunities in coordination with community partners. The four new, professionally fabricated pet waste stations will provide a consistent and professional appearance and help the park maintain a clean environment for park visitors.

Parks and Recreation Division recommends acceptance of this donation from the Friends of TY Park, Inc. (Friends of TY Park). Friends of TY Park was established in March 2017 as a community-based organization dedicated to ensuring that TY Park continues to thrive as a health and fitness resource, a social gathering place, and an environment that is ecologically sustaining.

The adoption of the Resolution (Exhibit 1) authorizes Broward County to accept this donation as requested by the donating organization (Exhibit 2).
