MOTION TO NOTE FOR THE RECORD emergency procurements in the estimated amount of $1,190,881 to vendors listed in Exhibit 1, in response to the January 6, 2017, incident at Broward County’s Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

ACTION:  (T-10:35 AM)  Approved.
 
VOTE: 9-0.  Commissioner Geller voted in the affirmative telephonically.
Why Action is Necessary
In accordance with the Broward County Procurement Code, Section 21.39.b., emergency procurements exceeding the award authority of the Director of Purchasing must be reported to the Board.

Discloses to the Board emergency procurements in response to the January 6, 2017, incident at Broward County’s Fort-Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport.

Summary Explanation/Background
THE PURCHASING DIVISION AND THE AVIATION DEPARTMENT RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

There were no goals assigned to these procurements because emergency procurements are exempt from application of participation goals.

On January 6, 2017, Broward County's Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport experienced an active shooter incident. Subsequently, there was an emergency evacuation of all of the Airport's terminals. Multiple procurements were required on an emergency basis to assist with the return of personal items to passengers, restore the terminal facilities and resume full operations.  The details of the emergency procurements are listed in Exhibit 1.
