Background
The First Annual Southeast Florida Regional Climate Leadership Summit was hosted by Broward County in October 2009. This event led to the adoption of the Southeast Florida Regional Climate Change Compact by Broward, Palm Beach, Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties in January 2010, a joint commitment to collaborate regionally in climate mitigation and adaptation planning. Compact commitments have included the creation of a Regional Climate Action Plan and the annual convening of a Regional Climate Leadership Summit to maintain collaborations, assess progress, and coordinate future actions. Broward County also hosted the 5th Annual Summit in November 2013. Now in the 9th year of Compact implementation, Broward County is preparing to host the 9th Annual Summit on December 14 -15, 2017, in collaboration with our Compact partners.
