Summary Explanation/Background
On October 30, 2017, Senator Keith Perry introduced Senate Bill 2018-684 which, if adopted, would designate a stretch of highway in Alachua County as the "Tom Petty Memorial Highway." The Board of County Commissioners of Broward County (the "Board") recognizes that as a native of Alachua County, Florida, Tom Petty made significant contributions to the American music scene and always remembered his Florida roots. The Board wishes to support Senate Bill 2018-684 and to direct the County Administrator to transmit a copy of the Resolution to the members of the Florida Legislature representing Broward County residents.
