Summary Explanation/Background
On August 16, 2016, the Board of County Commissioners (the "Board") voted to approve the allocation of $58,000 in Safe Parks Funds to District 4 to help fund a temporary dog park within the City of Pompano Beach.  The Board also decided to divide the remaining Safe Parks Funds equally among all nine districts.

The $58,000 allocated to District 4 is insufficient to fund a temporary dog park in Pompano Beach.  As such, District 4 now wishes to use those funds to fund numerous smaller projects within the District.  Specifically, the funds will be used to fund benches and other passive park items at Branhilda Knowles Memorial Park; trees, bench tables, and chairs for the Anglin Courtyard at Friedt Park; a memorial at Frank McDonough Park; artwork at the Pompano Beach Fishing Village; and renovation of a building within the Deerfield Island Park that will operate as an education and research center.
