Summary Explanation/Background
The Office of Intergovernmental Affairs and Professional Standards (OIAPS) maintains a comprehensive list of at-large advisory board positions.

At the October 17, 2017 Commission meeting, Commissioners directed OIAPS to place the three at-large positions on the Medical Marijuana Advisory Board on the "at-large available to all" list. Of note, one of the three positions is in the "consumer advocate" category, and the other two positions do not have a specific categorical designation.

This agenda item informs the Board of the at-large positions that are available to all Commissioners (see Exhibit 1). Any one Commissioner may nominate to appoint or reappoint individuals to the multiple positions listed in Exhibit 1.

After acceptance of this agenda item, a Commissioner wishing to appoint an individual to a board would submit a subsequent agenda item and resume of the individual to OIAPS. OIAPS submits the agenda item and resume to the County Attorney's Office for vetting. The County Attorney's Office sends a memorandum qualifying the individual to the commissioner's office. The commissioner's office then submits the agenda item with the memorandum of qualification for full County Commission approval.

If more than one nomination is submitted for the same position, the County Commission votes to determine which individual will be appointed.
