Summary Explanation/Background
THE PORT EVERGLADES DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL.

This item supports the Broward County Board of County Commissioners' Value of "Consistently delivering responsive, efficient, quality services to the public and internal customers" and Goal to "Build into every process and service effective checks and balances that do not cause inefficiency, but rather ensure consistency, continuity, and quality."

Broward County’s Port Everglades Department is reorganizing the Operations Division, Public Works/Facilities Maintenance Section, and the Seaport Engineering and Construction Division. The reorganization is the result of recommendations included in the Organizational and Functional Operations Study of Port Everglades completed by the Matrix Consulting Group on August 22, 2017. The core of the reorganization includes transferring certain skilled trades positions from the Operation Division, Public Works/Facilities Maintenance Section to the Seaport Engineering and Construction Division. This will improve the alignment between capital construction and recurring preventative maintenance programs. To reflect this realignment of responsibilities, the Seaport Engineering and Construction Division will be renamed the Seaport Engineering and Facilities Maintenance Division.
