Summary Explanation/Background

COUNTY ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE MOTION.

On September 27, 2017, the Florida Panthers offered County Administration a minimum of 50 voucher certificates intended for distribution to County employees who worked during and after Hurricane Irma with a special emphasis on shelter managers and volunteers. The vouchers allow a redeemer to register online to receive two free tickets, valued at $20 each, as well as the opportunity for the redeemer to purchase two additional tickets at a discounted rate of $10 each. The Panthers valued the donated tickets at approximately $2,000 (50 vouchers for two tickets; 100 total tickets at $20 each). Providing special recognition opportunities to County employees who serve in our most challenging environments during disasters is a critical component of maintaining and building morale, while encouraging other staff to volunteer in future events.

The voucher certificate is to attend the "Opening Night of the Florida Panther hockey season" against the Tampa Bay Lightning, October 7th at 7 p.m.

The Office of the County Attorney will analyze whether any recipients of the tickets are required to file any disclosure forms.
