THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL.
This action amends the existing Work Authorization for Special Inspector services for construction of the new Broward Addiction and Recovery Center.
The Office of Economic and Small Business Development (OESBD) established a cumulative County Business Enterprise (CBE) goal of 15% for the term of the Agreement. The vendor has committed to 63% CBE participation. Cartaya and Associates, Architects P.A. has obtained 88% participation to date.
On May 3, 2011 (Item No. 10), the Board approved the Agreement for Professional Architectural and Engineering Services for Work of a Specified Nature with Cartaya and Associates, Architects P.A., RLI No. R0832007R1, for an initial term of two years with three one-year renewal options, with a maximum annual usage of $1,000,000 for a total amount not-to-exceed $5,000,000.
On May 2, 2016, the Director of Purchasing approved Work Authorization No. 015CMD for identified special inspector services for construction of the new Broward Addiction and Recovery Center in the amount of $57,492.
On January 9, 2017, the Director of Purchasing approved Amendment No. 1 to Work Authorization No. 015CMD in the amount of $41,936 for materials testing.
During construction of the new Broward Addiction Recovery Center building, additional special inspection services were identified to meet Building Department requirements, necessitating additional funding in the amount of $9,316 and 120 days of additional time for performance. A Sunshine meeting was held on July 28, 2017 to negotiate the proposed Amendment No. 2 to the Work Authorization. The meeting was attended by Construction Management Division staff and representatives from Cartaya and Associates, Architects P.A. and its subconsultant.
