Summary Explanation/Background
At its meeting of August 16, 2016, the Board of County Commissioner approved the allocation to District 4 of $58,000 in Safe Parks Funds to partially fund the construction of a dog park in a County-owned parcel located at 4801 North Federal Highway in Pompano Beach, Florida. If constructed, the park would be located in a portion of the parcel that is not currently being utilized by the County.

The amount previously allocated is insufficient to fund the dog park, but an additional $58,000 remains available for park projects in District 2. The dog park would primarily benefit residents of Districts 2 and 4, and joining the funds available to both districts would provide additional funding for the project.

If this item is approved, the appropriate agencies will draft documents giving the City of Pompano Beach the right to use the land for the stated purpose for a period of 30 years. Upon conclusion of the 30-year term, the dog park use will terminate, unless the parties, in writing, agree otherwise.
