MOTION TO DISCUSS modification or termination, including termination for convenience, of the Agreement Between Broward County and G4S Secure Solutions (USA) for General Security Services at Various County Facilities. (Commissioner Bogen)

ACTION:  (T-10:27 AM)  Without objection, Commissioner Bogen deferred this item.  (See Yellow-Sheeted Additional Material, dated Tuesday, August 22, 2017, submitted at the request of Commissioner Bogen and the Public Works Department.)

G4S Secure Solutions (USA) Inc. is currently under contract with Broward County to provide general security services, including both armed and unarmed guards, at Government Center East, Water and Wastewater Services, Emergency Management Division, Transit Division, and other County facilities. The Agreement with G4S is in excess of $5 million annually for three-year initial term with two additional years, for a total not-to-exceed of more than $30 million. The Agreement was approved by the Board on November 10, 2015.
 
The Agreement requires that G4S provide security personnel that meet certain minimum requirements, including, for certain positions, a Florida State Guard License Class D or Class G.  In September 2016, G4S was fined by the Florida Department of Agriculture for deficiencies in more than 1,500 psychological background checks for applicants for Class G licenses. G4S employed Omar Mateen for approximately nine years leading up to the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando on June 12, 2016.
