THE HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT AND THE COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
This action supports the Commission Value of "Approaching services collaboratively and compassionately, with special emphasis on persons and families experiencing homelessness," and the Goal to "Collaborate with public and private partners to find creative, equitable and responsible solutions to systemic community problem, especially housing for persons experiencing, or at risk of homelessness."
Retroactive approval is requested to reimburse TaskForce for additional homeless outreach services provided to individuals experiencing homelessness around the Broward County Main Library area, starting June 1, 2017. Homeless street outreach services will be provided full-time during hours of library operation.
On March 11, 2014 (Item No. 4), the Board approved the original Agreement with TaskForce under Resolution No 2014-090, in the amount of $125,000. The Agreement resulted from an open, fair and competitive procurement process completed by the County for Fiscal Year 2014. On August 16, 2016 (Item No. 11), the Board extended this contract for a one-year period, ending September 30, 2017.
On January 12, 2016 (Item No. 2), the Board approved additional funds for expanded, targeted mobile homeless street outreach in the amount of $180,000, increasing the Agreement amount to $305,000. On December 20, 2016 a Work Authorization was executed in the amount of $7,816 (2.5% of Agreement amount). TaskForce achieved all required outcomes for Fiscal Year 2016. The original Agreement containing Work Authorization No. 1, Amendments and Work Authorizations Nos. 2 and 3 are attached as Exhibit 1. An email from TaskForce indicating the additional funds will be used for additional intensive street outreach, and, as needed in Broward County is attached as Exhibit 2.
The Amendment will be approved as to form by the Office of the County Attorney prior to execution by the County Administrator. |
