THE LIBRARIES DIVISION RECOMMENDS THE APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTIONS.
Approval of this item will support the Board's Value to cultivate community culture, arts, recreation and life-long learning and the Goal to provide diverse artistic, cultural, educational, and historical amenities and programs that contribute to a vibrant, multi-cultural and economically-viable community.
Pursuant to the Administrative Code, the Libraries Division requests that the Board formally accept two donations for the Broward County Libraries Division.
With respect to Motion A, accepting this donation will allow the Broward County Library to offer the Early Literacy Stations (Bilingual) at 7 library locations, as follows: Davie/Cooper City Branch; Deerfield Beach Percy White Branch; Miramar Branch Library; Pembroke Pines Branch/Walter C. Young Resource Center; Sunrise Dan Pearl Branch; Weston Branch; and Young at Art Museum/Broward County Library. Early Literacy Stations are touch screen computers, designed specifically for early learners from preschool age children to those in third grade. Each station comes preloaded with more than 60 games that span multiple curriculum areas – from reading to graphic arts to STEM subjects to music.
With respect to Motion B, accepting this donation will allow the Broward County Stirling Road Branch Library to create an exciting and useful area for the Library's youngest customers to access on line resources available through these specific devices. This donation has been made possible through contribution of a local business, Baby K'Tan, LLC to enhance services in this library location. |
