THE FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES DEPARTMENT AND THE RISK MANAGEMENT DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
On December 4, 2012, the claimant, a Mosquito Control Specialist I, sustained an injury during the course and scope of employment with the Broward County Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division, Mosquito Control Section. The claimant alleged injuries to the left foot, lumbar spine, cervical spine, left shoulder, and head after a motor vehicle accident. The claimant was terminated on April 2, 2014.
Through negotiations with the claimant, a settlement was reached in the total amount of $27,500. This amount is broken down as follows: (1) The claimant will receive $23,200, plus $500 for a Release and Resignation Agreement; and (2) the claimant’s attorney will receive $3,450 for fees and $350 for costs. The settlement includes all future indemnity and medical benefits.
Please note the Concurrence Memorandum was signed by the Office of the County Attorney on May 12, 2017, which is within the 90-day period between settlement and concurrence, as requested by the Board. |
