THE AVIATION DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
This action authorizes BCAD on behalf of Broward County (“County”) to transmit an ALP update to the FAA.
The County is required by the FAA to maintain a current ALP. The ALP is the FAA's record document of existing, proposed developments, and improvements at airports receiving federal assistance. BCAD submits updates to the ALP continuously in order to meet this requirement.
The current ALP was signed by the FAA on January 22, 2009. On April 5, 2011 (Item No. 14, Motion A), the Board approved the transmittal of the updated 2009 ALP to the FAA reflecting minor design modifications to Sheets 1 through 4. Pursuant to this Board action, the updated ALP was approved by the FAA on August 18, 2011.
In response to a request from the FAA, this proposed action will provide an ALP update (Exhibit 1) on the previously proposed projects associated with the 2011 update, to reflect 2016 airport conditions. The revised Sheets 1 through 4 of the proposed update reflect the changes completed to date in the FLL airfield that are associated with the South Runway Expansion and improvements for Taxiways F, G, H, J, L and Q. Other changes include the addition of the new maintenance facility on the north east quadrant of the Airport and new general aviation facilities on the west side of the Airport.
